Our Layout Techniques
In a nutshell, these are just a few tips as to why we decided to design the website the way that we did.
Home page:
-picture catches reader’s eye
-state the purpose of our website so the reader knows what to expect (encourages them to discover mpre of the things on the website)
-movie set video introduces them to the characters that we have not yet explained, so they are more intrigued as to why the actors are acting a certain way: introduced to the author of the book.
-book reviews provide insight from fellow readers and classmates and give them insight on the emotions they might feel.
Summary:
-rhetorical question gets them thinking about the main theme
-they are slowly learning more (each page feeds off of the previous page)
-not a lot info is given away so they are intrigued and interested in what might happen and “who the grenade is” and what it means
Characters & Character Analysis:
-visual representation allows them to visualize the personalities the actors embody
-info about each of the characters is set up as a police file/case so that the info is plain and systematic (not too hard to read and easy to understand)
-buttons allow for easy navigation
Theme/ Writing Style:
-quotes and picture catch attention
-picture between info so that the reader keeps scrolling (bc really who doesn’t like pictures?)
-again systematic manner so that info is not hard to understand
Purchase:
-makes it easier for the reader to get the book bc they have the resources at their fingertips
-free advertising
-we don’t specify what the highest price is so they have to press each button to find the lowest price, which will expose them to the book and advertising
-buttons are cool so they’ll press them and see what the best deal is
Quiz/Blog/Playlist:
-extra fun things like games on a website
-pictures catch eyes
-not packed with info so the pages are more blank and “uncluttered”
About the Author & contacts:
-Provides them w resources to find out more about the book from the author himself (his inspirations etc)- personal connection
Overall:
-based off of Sparknotes
-targets teens
-colours and pictures all represent the emotions and book as a whole (blue for sadness and oblivion etc)
